Worker. The Social Worker will function in the Intimate Partner

Violence / Military Sexual Trauma (IPV/MST) Program within Social

Work Service. The individual will provide services to enrolled

veterans experiencing the effects of IPV/MST and complex trauma

Providing a full range of social work services which includes

case work, individual, family and group counseling, discharge

planning, case management and other services as appropriate.

Developing treatment plans, and setting achievable treatment

goals with the Veteran and her/his family / significant others.

Providing gender-sensitive interventions to Veterans as needed.

Providing psychosocial support to this special Veteran

population experiencing highly complex health and/or mental

health problems, with the provision of short-term, solution

focused counseling with Veterans.

Completing thorough assessments of returning Veterans including

completion of the applicable performance measures and evaluating

the need for referral to appropriate resources.

Coordinating treatment and communicating with other social

workers and community program coordinators to include HHA, CHN,

and OEF/OIF/OND, PTSD, Homeless Program, Suicide Prevention

etc., to facilitate continuity of care for Veterans.

Assisting in the management of complex interpersonal scenarios

related to sexism, ageism, and other forms of discrimination.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

QualificationsTo qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements

- Must have a Master's Degree in social work from a school of

social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education

(CSWE).

- Must be licensed or certified at the Master's level to

independently practice social work in a state. (VHA may waive

the licensure or certification requirement for persons who are

otherwise qualified, pending completion of state prerequisites

for licensure/certification examination and candidate. VHA

social workers who are not licensed or certified at the time of

appointment must become licensed or certified at the

independent, master's level within 3 years of their appointment

as a social worker.)Grade Determinations:GS-9 Level: This is the entry level grade for the social work

series and is used for social workers with less than one year of

post-MSW experience and for social workers who are not yet licensed

or certified at the independent practice level. Social Workers at

the GS-9 level are working toward completion of prerequisites for

licensure or certification.GS-11 Level: Applicants must possess one year of post-MSW degree

experience in the field of health care social work (VA or non-VA

experience) and licensure or certification in a state at the

independent practice level -OR- a doctoral degree in social work

from a school of social work may be substituted for the required 1

year of professional social work experience in a clinical setting.

This is the full performance level for social workers. GS-11 social

workers are licensed or certified to independently practice social

work. They are assigned to all program areas, including inpatient or

outpatient medicine, surgery, mental health, neurology,

rehabilitation medicine, and geriatrics. Employees provide

professional, independent social work services in the assigned area.

You must submit a transcript to receive credit for this education. A

doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the

master's degree in social work.Preferred Experience:

- Training and experience in provision of group psychotherapy.

- Education, training, and/or experience in evidence-based

psychotherapies for individuals with complex trauma histories

(e.g. Dialectical Behavior Therapy).References: VA Handbook 5005/53, Part II, Appendix G39.The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-11. The actual

grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is in

the range of GS-09 to GS-11.Physical Requirements: Lifting and carrying light objects under

15 pounds using two hands is required. Walking up to two hours is

required. Incumbent will also need to have the ability for rapid

mental and muscular coordination, correctable vision, hearing with
