Associates Degree preferred but not required.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Retention Liaison position is a full time, non-supervisory position providing guidance to students with appropriate social conduct and behavioral expectations that will enable them to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth. The Retention Liaison’s primary concern is the overall safety of the students and staff with an emphasis on situational awareness, emphasizing proactive interventions to avert crisis or physical confrontations. The Retention Liaison will collaborate with all school staff members to accomplish a culture of safety, security and student social growth. The Retention Liaison reports to the Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Leads retention plan developed in combination with School Director
Heads daily security tasks including interior and exterior patrolling of grounds
Works with Attendance Liaison to work with city and state agencies when necessary
Works with Transportation Liaison to ensure all daily transportation concerns are met
Implements School Director's plan for home visits when necessary
Conducts security activities according to guidelines established by the Ohio Department of Education and administrative regulations
Supports staff members in their efforts to implement appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials and equipment to ensure comprehension of learning styles and student needs
Collaborate with general education and special education teachers on student’s specific Individual Education Plans to ensure known problems are addressed proactively
Create a rich environment for all students to learn and employ effective behavioral management process
Coordinate and manage extracurricular duties as assigned
Assist in any educational activities approved by the Director
Control and guide student behavior in agreement with the student handbook
Ensure necessary and reasonable measures are taken to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
Establish communication rapport with parents, students, teachers and community members
Present information accurately through clear communication skills
Gather, manage and file all reports, records and other documents required
Team member and able to communicate and collaborate with all staff members on issues concerning students, staff, and facility
Refer students and inform appropriate personnel of student issues which (may) distract students from their academic studies social/emotional issues (to Social Worker) or transcript/record concerns (to the Academic Adviser)
Immediately alert to appropriate personnel any safety concerns, such as suspicion of weapons or drugs
