Full Job Description
This position is a customer facing engineering and design role that enables our production process and drives internal manufacturing efficiency.
The role entails working closely with customers to assist them with designing parts for manufacturability. Once a part design becomes an order, the engineer will program and send parts to be laser cut, stamped, bent, welded and have hardware inserted. The engineer will assist the production of the parts by collaborating with plant management, master scheduling and outside suppliers.
This position reports to the President.
Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
Machine programming for all production processing needs Preparing jobs to be released for production
Working with customers for the following activities Design review for manufacturability and cost analysis. Periodic customer visits to review product applications and opportunities Working with plant manager to ensure efficiency is achieved in our production process.
Subcontractor / Supplier interactions to get jobs completed on time
Creating CAD designs for customers or internal use Working with customers and sales to interpret customer requirements leading to a customer agreed upon design and price development
Utilize our job costing software to quote prices for customers
Improve overall productivity and efficiency in our manufacturing process
Required Skills
Engineering degree with 10 years minimum experience working in a sheet metal job shop environment.
Strong Solidworks skills in sheet metal design
Programming experience and proficiency utilizing Trumpf Boost software
Strong interpersonal skills for working with customers and colleagues in a strategic, constructive and open environment
Excellent customer interaction and design support with a focus on evaluating manufacturing feasibility
Strong organizational skills to manage complex projects
Willingness to work in a team environment where improving our on-time delivery and quality metrics are key strategic imperatives
