Research Assistant - RI Cardio Zhao

Overview
A Research Assistant is immediately available in Dr. Mingtao Zhao\'s laboratory in the Center for Cardiovascular Research at the Nationwide Children\'s Hospital/Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. The Zhao lab is using patient-derived induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, and functional genomics (single-cell genomics) to study the molecular and genetic mechanisms of cardiovascular development and congenital heart disease. Sucessful candidates are expected to perform human iPSC reprogramming and cardiac/vascular differentiation, and help PI maintain the routine laboratory management including writing IRB protocols, place lab orders, and coordinate with other labs in the Center for Cardiovascular Research. Candidates with experience in stem cell culture, organoid development, and CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing will be given priority. The Center for Cardiovascular Research currently has a NIH-funded T32 postdoctoral program to provide interdisciplinary, translational, and state-of-the-art research training in congenital and acquired heart disease, partnered with the Ohio State University College of Medicine. The Abigail Wexner Research Institute is one of the largest pediatric research centers and consistently ranked among the top 10 for NIH funding among free-standing children\'s hospitals in the United States. In addition, Nationwide Children\'s Hospital is one of the nation\'s largest not-for-profit pediatric healthcare networks and is ranked 9th on the US News & World Report\'s \"America\'s Best Children\'s Hospitals Honor Roll\".

KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: To fulfill this role successfully, you must possess these minimum qualifications and experience:
Master or Bachelor Degree in Cell/Molecular/Developmental Biology, Cardiovascular Physiology, Genomics or related field.
Desire to pursue a career in biomedical research, and knowledge of the research process.

Responsibilities
Coordinates initial and ongoing development of education programs.
Recommends new programs and technology based on evaluation and needs assessment.
Participates in the development of an annual plan for community education that is consistent with strategic priorities.
Collaborates with Marketing, community partners, hospital and physician leaders, coordinators and program committee to increase the visibility of Nationwide Children\'s Hospital\'s education programs.
Maintains up-to-date information on the Web.
Coordinates formative and summative evaluation of education programs.
Aggregates data for trend analysis. Assists in implementation and tracking of improvements.
Manages files and databases to assure complete and accurate records.
Ensures reports are accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
Maintains reporting and regulatory initiatives as assigned.
Manages meeting planning.
Recommends and administers operations and expenses for assigned cost centers.
Participates in ongoing professional development activities.
Qualifications
Education Requirement:
College degree or equivalent experience, required.
Licensure Requirement:
Valid Ohio driver\'s license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy.
Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Children\'s Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.
Certifications:
For Graduate Medical Education positions only
Training Administrators of Graduate Medical Education (TAGME) certification is required within three years of start for candidates without a college degree.
Skills:
Proficiency in MS Office.
Excellent oral and written communication.
Strong command of the English language, grammar and spelling.
