Title: Lead Software Engineer
Client Industry: Energy utility
Location: Columbus, OH (open to 100% remote)
Duration: Long-term, open-ended contract
Description:

Our client is looking to transform its legacy CIS system to a modern Oracle Utilities Cloud solution (Customer Cloud Service).

Working independently, the software developer will lead and participate in the design, coding, testing and delivery of software solutions that are consistent with client standards and practices. The developer must lead and function as a member of a team and participate in all phases of the software development life cycle. Possesses an advanced level of proficiency in skills and knowledge.

Essential Job Functions & Tasks:

• Design, develop or modify code according to AEP standards and practices.
• Willingness to develop new skills and learn new programming languages as needed
• Passion for making useful, usable products that make our customers' lives better
• Experience developing in agile environments
• Excellent communication skills. Ability to collaborate and communicate ideas effectively with a broad group of stakeholders
• Use software testing tools to assure the creation of software having the fewest defects. Quality-focused development practices such as development of automated test cases, test-driven development (TDD), continuous integration and continuous delivery practices are required.
• Lead and participate in code reviews.

Technologies:

Minimum Required:

• Solid experience in at least one object oriented programming language (Java, C# etc.) with a passion for software craftsmanship having demonstrated experience with modern delivery techniques such as automated testing and continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD)
• Huge Plus - Groovy, VBA (Excel), Knowledge of numerous Integration Design Patterns, Integration frameworks (Oracle OIC, SOA/OSB), RESTful APIs

Minimum Requirements:

• Education Requirements: Bachelor Degree in Computer Science OR Associates Degree in Computer Science with 2 years of IT Software Developer experience OR High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of IT Software Developer experience.
• Work Experience: Typically 12 or more years in dominant project language or related experience (in addition to any experience identified above).
