We are seeking a Building Maintenance Technician in Columbus, Ohio to perform a variety of skilled duties in one or more of the following building trades: painting, carpentry, minor electrical, plumbing, cement masonry, dry wall and HVAC in order to maintain, repair facilities. This position reports to the Facilities Manager and works under limited supervision.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs a variety of minor carpentry, minor electrical, plumbing, cement masonry and HVAC preventative maintenance repairs.

Repairs interior walls, finishes, and minor flooring damage.

Assists as directed in the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems such as: heating, ventilation, air conditioning, automatic temperature control, electrical, and plumbing systems; operates motorized lifts and equipment, as needed.

Researches and solicits vendors for repair parts and preventative maintenance parts for equipment.

Purchases required supplies and materials to complete various projects.

Performs other duties and special projects as assigned

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Knowledge of OSHA occupational safety regulations.

Knowledge of maintaining systems inside an office building.

Ability to read and understand repair manuals and equipment blueprints and schematics.

Knowledge of the proper use of specialized departmental equipment including those used in the plumbing, electrical, HVAC and general carpentry trades.

Basic computer literacy for entering and looking up information using standard business software.

Strong communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships with staff, customers and others.

Demonstrated organizational, problem solving and common sense skills.

Must be able to pass multiple, comprehensive pre-employment background investigations and drug screen. Ability to travel to local facilities.

DEGREES, LICENSES, CERTIFICATONS & EDUCATION

High School Diploma or GED; Trade school coursework in general carpentry, HVAC, electrical and/or building maintenance preferred.

Minimum 5 years of related work experience in building maintenance required.

Valid Driver's License and proof of current automobile insurance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a safety sensitive position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a variety of environments including mechanical rooms, office space and construction areas. Conditions occasionally include exposure to outdoor elements, hot/cold temperatures, wet conditions, noise, atmospheric conditions and cramped quarters.

The noise level in the work environment is regularly moderate and occasionally loud.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, physical demands may include sitting, standing, lifting, crouching, kneeling, crawling, climbing ladders, exposure to toxic substances, exposure to risk of electrical shock, keyboarding and viewing computer monitor requiring close vision.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Must frequently lift and or move 5 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.
