Communicates pertinent clinical information to the Clinical Dietitian and appropriate members of the patient care team.
Establishes and maintains strong positive communication with patients and families.
Checks patient tray tickets against STAR diet review to assure tray ticket is accurate and consistent with diet order and patient preferences
Documents patient data accurately and completely. Enters and updates appropriate tray ticket notes and census notes for patient satisfaction and diet compliance.
Provides nourishment list / labels two times a day (MCE), three times a day (MCW & MCSA).
Demonstrates knowledge of special modified diets using department policies and procedures to assure patient receives the diet ordered.
Interprets nutritional supplement orders and sends appropriate products to patients. Visits patients to obtain preferences.
Computer skills: Effectively utilizes all appropriate systems: Patient Care System, CBORD Diet Office Management, Palm Pilot for Bedside Menu Entry, ATK and Personal Registrar. Appropriate use of Internet/Intranet
Answers telephone for clinical office and forwards calls; records and handles all messages.
Prepares a tally of all special items requested on patient menus for breakfast, lunch and dinner for cooks, salad, and cold food units.
Counts and records daily patient census and meal census including numbers of late trays and productivity sheets.
Visits all patients as assigned (BME and Levels of care) and addresses patient / family diet concerns in a timely and efficient manner.
Checks patient trays for accuracy during meal service
Job Qualifications
Education: High school or equivalent required. Additional college training in dietetics or related field preferred.
Licensure / Certification: N/A
Experience: Previous health care experience or demonstrated knowledge of dietetics and medical terminology preferred
Knowledgeable in Basic Computer Skills
Demonstrates priority setting, organizational skills and the ability to remain calm under stressful situations
Effective Communication Skills
Works independently with little supervision.
Effective verbal, written communication and interpersonal relations skills
Possesses a high level of professionalism and the ability to establish good rapport with patients, family members, staff and physicians.
Flexibility to work a variety of shifts/variable schedules.
Experience in dealing with customer service.
Demonstrate a neat and clean appearance.
