DescriptionPosition Summary:Performs CT imaging procedures, operates CT equipment, positions patient, performs and documents patient assessment as it relates to the imaging encounter. Exports images to PACS, accesses and utilizes computer HIS/RIS as needed. Prepares CT room, equipment, and supplies. What You Will Do:

Pleasantly greets patients, introduce yourself, confirm patient identification, and explains procedure in a manner that is understood.

Able to utilize the hospital computer systems (HIS/RIS/PACS) to retrieve information, export images to appropriate and valid destinations, review images, retrieve archived studies, verify data, perform order entry, and record information following completion of exam.

Receives order request checking for special instructions, and consults with Radiologists as needed.

Prepare room, equipment, and imaging materials as needed for patients.

Prepare patient for CT procedure by having patient gown appropriately as needed.

Perform post processing of data, specifically multi-planar reformatting and 3D rendering on orthopedic and vascular cases.

Appropriately cleans and disinfects CT suites, work area, and equipment. Maintains stock supplies for assigned rooms.

Positions patient and plans imaging study. Ability to adapt imaging plans per patient encounter when patient is unable to cooperate or comply.

Assists patient at end of procedures, appropriately ending encounter by making sure patient is taken to room, ED, or other unit. If an outpatient he or she is shown out of imaging and/or to other testing locations.

Starts IV’s for contrast studies. Prepares various contrast media for CT study.

Checks patient history for prior studies as is pertinent to the current study

Coordinates scheduling, transportation, and scanning of patients with the activities of the CT suites.

Selects and operates equipment appropriately and/or per manufacturer and industry guidelines. Follows prescribed techniques in administering scans. Adjusts equipment settings; determines proper exposure parameters selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.

Observes patient and machine during procedure and reports unusual occurrences.

Performs a patient assessment as appropriate for the imaging procedure to assist Radiologist during their interpretation.

Performs general maintenance on equipment and daily/weekly technologist QC. Reports to manufacturer any errors in test results.

Available for emergency cases on a rotational basis.

Knowledge of the needs of patients according to their age group and the ability to modify care according to patient’s age. Technologist will most frequently care for adults and geriatric patients; and, on occasion, adolescents, children, infants, and neonates.

Lifts, moves, and transports patients via wheelchair or cart and onto imaging table. Transports patient from patient room, Surgery Center, ED, and other patient care areas. Returns patient to room or other patient care area when imaging is completed.

Performs office procedures accurately in absence of clerical personnel or as needed. Performs all clerical functions when not performing technical procedures including answering phone, burning CD’s, prepares release of information and other clerical procedures

Identifies problems and communicates appropriately to immediate supervisor, offers solutions as appropriate

Maintains stock supplies for assigned room or work area.

Uses lead shield to protect unaffected parts of patient’s body from exposure to X-ray.

Wears film badge at collar level at all times. Uses time, distance, and shielding to minimize exposure to radiation.

Reports any department equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel.

Select CT staff will work in the diagnostic Radiology Department and must comply with job description for Radiologic Technologist as it pertains to individual responsibilities within this role.

Aids in furthering the education of student radiologic technologist, rotating thru CT.

What You Will Need:

Graduate of formal radiologic technology training program in an approved school.

ARRT (R) (CT) required: ODH license in radiography required.

Must be currently certified in CPR, and be recertified bi-annually.

Ability to work in an environment that is fast-paced requiring multi-tasking.

Uses proper body mechanics. Ability to push, pull and/or lift patient from carts, wheelchairs, or other transport devices, onto imaging table/couch.

Complies with all Service Excellence, Quality, and customer satisfaction initiatives.

Ability to read and write small letters and numbers.

Ability to maintain neat and orderly files and records.

Ability to communicate and understand oral and written communication.

Ability to communicate effectively with management, physicians, co‑workers, patients and students.
