JOB POSITION SUMMARY The Buyer/Planner role is responsible to purchase parts and obtain quotes from both internal and external suppliers. This role works to identify and best utilize a network of preferred and approved suppliers by working with Global Sourcing Department. The Buyer Planner evaluates effectiveness of suppliers in terms of pricing, on-time delivery, performance, and quality.   RESPONSIBILITIES: Negotiate with suppliers to obtain quotations, prices, and deliver times from both internal and external suppliers. Evaluate vendor quotes and services to determine compatibility with company objectives. Coordinate purchasing activities with other departments to maintain inventory at planned levels.  Evaluate inventory levels and adjust order requirements accordingly. Review opportunities for new supply sources and suitability of materials offered. Create Purchase Orders and maintain purchasing data in SAP. Work with suppliers to resolve non-conforming product issues and expedite orders.   Approve invoices for payment and reconcile receipt and invoice discrepancies.   Work with Global Sourcing to identify and best utilize a network of Preferred and Approved suppliers. Identify and implement cost saving initiatives.   Evaluate effectiveness of suppliers in terms of pricing, on time delivery performance, and quality. Perform other duties as assigned.
