Staff Accountant

Description We are in search of a Staff Accountant to join our team in the Local Government industry. The role is located in Sylvania and requires diligent and detail-oriented work ethics. As a Staff Accountant, your main focus will be on processing customer applications, maintaining accurate customer records, and resolving customer inquiries. You will also monitor customer accounts and take appropriate action when necessary.Responsibilities: Accurately process customer credit applications in a timely manner Maintain up-to-date and precise customer credit records Efficiently resolve customer inquiries and concerns Monitor customer accounts and conduct necessary actions to maintain their integrity Perform bank reconciliations and maintain the general ledger Prepare journal entries with high accuracy Utilize Microsoft Excel to manage data and produce reports Implement and adhere to governmental accounting practices Handle accounts payable and receivable in a timely and efficient manner Continuously learn and adapt to new accounting software and technologiesRequirements Minimum of 3 years of experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar capacity within the local government sector Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Demonstrated experience with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Experience with Bank Reconciliations Familiarity with General Ledger management Proven ability to prepare and maintain Journal Entries Knowledge and understanding of governmental accounting procedures and regulations Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is preferred Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a high-volume environment Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure Strong organizational and multitasking skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
