As part of our financial leadership team, you’ll contribute to maintaining and improving financial controls, reporting, and operational efficiency. Assistant Controller Responsibilities
Verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions
Generate accurate, timely accounting reports that detail operational performance and present actionable insights to management.
Analyze financial data specific to production costs, equipment maintenance expenses, and supply chain efficiency, summarizing the overall financial health of the business.
Identify cost variances and recommend strategies to optimize spending and improve operational efficiency across sites.
Provide technical support and advice on the SAGE 300 ERP systems for our teams in the branches
Review and recommend enhancements to accounting workflows and ERP configurations to meet the unique needs of an industrial environment.
Manage Staff Accountant, A/R Manager and A/P Manager
Participate in financial standards setting and in the forecast process
Collaborate on the establishment of financial benchmarks for service departments, contributing to the forecasting and budgeting process.
Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
Facilitate external audits and oversee compliance with income tax regulations, acquisition accounting, and asset depreciation specific to equipment-heavy industries.
Plan, assign, and review staff’s work
Support month-end and year-end close process
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
Work closely with the Controller and CFO to refine financial strategies and align procedures with the operational priorities of an industrial company.
Assistant Controller Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Minimum 8-12 years' experience in a Sr Accounting role (e.g. Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, Controller) including minimum 5 years supervising / managing Accounting / Finance team.
Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting. Familiarity with revenue recognition and cost accounting.
Projects, Percentage of Completion, Lease and Insurance accounting and similar concept knowledge.
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
Proficiency preferably with SAGE 300 or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills (V-Lookups and pivot tables). Experience with financial reporting software is a plus.
Experience in industrial services, manufacturing, or related industries is a plus.
