Our client is seeking an experienced a Certification and Compliance Senior Engineer to support the development and certification of vehicle powertrains and stationary power systems. This full-time position offers the opportunity to be a part of an exciting team and fast-growing company that is revolutionizing the industry. The Certification and Compliance Senior Engineer will help shape and execute the certification efforts for our generator technology in West Chester, Ohio. Essential Job Functions:
Lead emissions and OBD compliance engineering activities including the final certification testing and completion of all reporting documentation.
Lead the discussions with regulators at CARB and EPA and ensure that they are following the necessary steps for commercialization of both powertrain and vehicle.
Support the development of product engineering requirements, engineering specifications based on regulatory requirements to ensure that products are fully compliant.
Responsible for creating test plans as per EPA and CARB regulatory requirements for both emissions and OBD compliance.
Review OBD field demonstration test data to ensure integrity and completeness, and prepare official reports for the regulators
Manage and document OBD-related running changes to the product in the field per regulatory requirements
Support compliance activities that include but are not limited to In Use Testing (IUT), Manufacturer Self-Test (MST), In Use Monitor Performance Ratio (IUMPR)
Engage with validation teams and support Portable Emissions Measurement System (PEMS) testing, engine dynamometer emissions testing, OBD monitor demonstration testing, data collection and analysis
Provide inputs to the simulation teams on the drive cycles as per regulatory requirements
Review industry and legal documents for issues relevant to the company, summarizing such documents for efficient communication to the organization
Create and present reports with documentation of technical analysis

Expert in emissions standards, test methodologies for multiple fuels including on-highway and off-highway applications.
Complete understanding of Diesel/CNG engines, combustion systems and exhaust aftertreatment systems on Class 8 Trucks
Understanding of powertrain systems including ICE, hybrid, and full electric
Prior experience on Portable Emissions Measurement System (PEMS) testing and data analysis
Prior experience in full hybrid vehicle/conventional powertrain certification programs
Working knowledge of CFR title 40, Parts 1036 and 1037
Understanding of the impact of hybrid powertrain design on the generation of CO2
Understanding of the vehicle level design features and the impact they have on CO2 generation
Expertise with Diesel and CNG emissions measurement from both engine dynamometer and chassis dynamometer testing
Understanding of EPA 40 CFR Part 1065 and 1066 regulations with regards to facility, equipment, and testing procedures
Expert knowledge on Title 13 CCR Section 1971.1 CARB OBD Requirements
Experience in requirement management and with requirements management software such as Jama
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering
10+ Years of Experience in relevant engineering roles
Experience leading technical projects including managing schedules and setting key project tasks/milestones
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in Engineering
Experience in Class-8 trucks, their sub-systems, and application requirements
Ability to communicate with customers (internal and external) in an effective and positive way both written and verbally, to address their needs promptly and to follow through on commitments
Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions
Position will involve travel (10-15% of time) to visit, work with, and evaluate engineering providers and hardware suppliers
Ability to work well in a high-paced environment, set and meet appropriate deadlines
