The Product Engineering Manager works with his team to design, produce, and support products for the gas and water distribution market that will increase revenue and margin. The team consists of engineers, lab technician, and draftsmen to sustain current products and develop new products. The product engineering manager must be able to work with Operations, Procurement, Sales and Quality to help ensure production and customer needs are met. This role is an exceptional fit for an engineer with at least five years’ experience who enjoys all aspects of new product launch and providing top tier technical support for internal and external customers. A Day In The Life Essential duties and responsibilities include the following (and other duties may be assigned):Engineering Services for New Products:
Compliance and certifications
Documentation/drawing creation
ECN to release new products
Instruction sheets
Variant configuration creation
ETO & MTO
Acquisitions
Design Activities:
Mechanical
Intellectual Property
Design analysis
Prototype creation
Testing/Lab functions
Project management
NPD application
Sustaining Engineering:
Material and component substitutions
Maintaining Certification needs for legacy products
Quality resolution (internal and external)
Product complaints, failure analysis, root cause, replies to customer
Dispositioning product deviations and MRBs
Addressing factory production concerns
Cost reduction projects
ECN processing
Updating drawing formats
Maintaining SAP DIRs and material master maintenance
BOMs and Routings
Engineering software management (CAD, Vault, Workflow, etc)
Other Support Functions:
Application engineering – product specific and customer facing
Aid customer in selection of HGUS products
Evaluation of specific use cases for product selection
Determining capability of products to meet standards requirement
Technical training for customers or sales team
Drawing take-offs
Cross reference competitive products
What will help you thrive in this role? Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university with at least 5 years’ experience in product engineering role.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
