About the Position: Is located in the Qualification section. Responsibilities Receive, stow, issue, and re-warehouse all types of ammunition (live and inert) and ammunition components. Perform visual inspection of materiel handled, reporting any damage, incorrect labeling, or shortage or overage. Separate items according to lot, stock number, nomenclature, and condition code. Break down, segregate, and repalletize ammunition components and containers. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at McAlester Oklahoma. This position serves as a multi-faceted role for the planning and execution of industrial equipment maintenance, repair, installation, and production facility utilization. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Fork Lift Operator (Materials Handler) without more than normal supervision. Must possess the ability to perform common duties which include handling equipment while loading and unloading explosives and inert material into or out of railcars, trucks, and loading docks. I am skilled in handling controls for starting, stopping, backing and driving fork lift trucks through narrow aisles in buildings, up and down ramps and in and out of railroad cars and trucks. I can visually conceptualize whether a specific load is maneuverable through a particular space. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Stands, stoops, bends, and works in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace for prolonged periods. Frequently lifts and carries material that weigh up to 60 pounds, and at times may handle items, with help, weighing over 60 pounds. Good color vision is necessary for proper identification of different types of ammunition by color code. All lifts over 50 pounds will be assisted with a two person lift or using a mechanical handling equipment lifting device. The two person lift limit is 100 pounds and will only be used for single event, non-routine lifts. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside and outside and subject to heat, cold, damp, drafty or poorly lighted areas. Work may be dirty and dusty. Exposed to danger of explosion and fire while working with explosives, chemicals and loaded ammunition. There is a chance of injuries ranging from loss of life or limbs to burns, cuts, bruises, skin irritations, sprains, and fractures. I can judge braking and stopping distances for locomotives. I use proper signals or equipment, such as arms and hands, lanterns, light, or flags, and various signal coeds and proper techniques to give signals. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT Incumbent uses considerable physical agility and effort during rail operations. May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS Incumbent works under many adverse conditions in both good and bad weather and is frequently exposed to: (1) Loud noise (2) Fumes and odors from exhaust and creosote (3) Possible injury from slipping and falling (4) Possible injury from coupling and uncoupling devices and air brake hoses (5) Possible injury from motor vehicles or railway vehicles and from train derailment or other accidents Incumbent must wear protective clothing.
