Landscape Laborer Job Code:2024:0404-016 Location:Norman, OK FT/PT Status:Full Time Business Sector:Facilities Management and Operations Job Description The landscape laborer provides grounds keeping and maintenance for gardens, ponds, lawns, turf areas and other landscapes to increase the visual or functional value of the USPS NCED facility and all surrounding grounds. The landscape laborer will maintain all vegetation on the grounds, such as plants, trees, hedges and flowers to keep the landscape thriving, healthy, and effectively designed. Qualifications

Cut grass, using walking-type or riding mowers Trim hedges and edge around walks and flower beds using hedge trimmers, clippers, and edging tools Prune shrubs and trees to shape and improve growth, using shears and other hand tools Make adjustments, repairs, additions, etc. to the turf, flowerbeds, and computerized irrigation system Plant grass, flowers, trees and shrubs Mulch gardens Water lawn and shrubs during dry periods, using hose or activation water sprinkler system Pick and dispose of leaves, paper and other litter Remove snow or ice from walks, driveways, roads or parking lots Assist with varied kinds of work including, but not limited to pouring concrete, snow removal, assembling modular furniture and changing light bulbs Performs other duties as assigned Pay Rate: $16.20 per hour Schedule: Monday thru Friday 7:00AM to 3:30pm (Winter hours) Monday thru Friday 6:00AM to 2:00pm (Summer hours) Required Skills and Qualifications Must be at least 17 years of age Must be able to use “down-time” effectively to the benefit of the company Must have a well-mannered customer service attitude Must be able to operate lawn care equipment including, but not limited to, tractor, weed eater, edger, hedge trimmer, push, chain saw, and ride on mower, etc. Must be punctual, responsible and dependable Must demonstrate motivation, initiative, and reliability Must be able to work as part of a team, fostering teamwork in a dynamic environment Must be detail oriented Must be willing to cross-train in other areas Excellent verbal and written communication skills Possess a valid driver license, without special restrictions, desired Physical Demands and Working Conditions Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned Must be able to work outdoors for long and varied hours, sometimes in extreme weather conditions Must be capable of lifting 70 pounds unassisted Must be able to ascend and descent equipment, including but not limited to, ladders, scaffolds, lifts, etc. Must be capable of frequent bending, squatting, crouching, kneeling, climbing, and stooping, sometimes for long periods Must be able to stand and walk for extensive periods of time Must be capable of performing manual repetitive activities Must have good manual dexterity Terms of Employment and Eligibility Requirements Must pass pre-employment background screening Must pass a pre-employment drug screening Must be legally authorized to work in the United States The lists above are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel in this position.
