Test Development Technician

The Evaluation Systems group of Pearson offers dynamic teacher licensing and performance assessment solutions. Our custom teacher licensure testing programs are aligned to state and national standards. We also provide a wide variety of teacher licensure testing services such as test development, administration, and scoring. We work in a collaborative environment and are passionate about education.The Test Development Technician is on the staff of the Content Production and Publishing department. An individual in this role uses various software programs to produce materials and products associated with test development and test publishing. This includes creating and maintaining content rich databases that support computer-based tests. The position requires working on multiple projects simultaneously and planning and executing assigned tasks efficiently to meet every deadline with accurate outcomes. The Test Development Technician partners with copyeditors, graphic artists, and quality assurance staff to coordinate efforts within the group and meet shared goals.This position is attached to our Amherst/Hadley, MA office. This role will be remote within the contiguous US.Please submit a cover letter with your resume when applying.Primary Responsibilities

Uses knowledge of available software to most effectively produce each job

Applies advance knowledge of software to create and format complicated technical documents

Migrates and converts items and images from MS Word documents to database format

Maintains multiple databases and data input of test items

Organizes data based on program and content area specifications and makes recommendations, as needed

Builds item banks that will be used for test publishing

Creates test forms for use in test publishing

Utilizes strong technical skills to easily learn and apply new features that support production needs

Works cooperatively with team members and other departments to meet client driven deadlines

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant work experience.

Preferably with a background in test publishing

Skills/Qualifications

Strong organizational and document management skills

Proficiency with databases, MS Word, and Excel, Snag-It, PDF Editor

Understanding of relational databases

Ability to learn technologies and software easily

Strong analytical and trouble-shooting skills

Experience in computer-based content management

Detail oriented and able to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment

Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Ability to work successfully as part of a team

Schedule and Work Setup

Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm ET

Work from home with Pearson supplied hardware and support. (Employees are responsible for securing reliable internet.)

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location.
