ASSISTANT MANAGER FOR RENTAL EQUIPMENT FACILITY

Experienced Assistant Manager

Assistant managers will be required to maintain Employee Relations, Facility Works and Ergonomics, while Satisfying and Serving Our Customers. Equipment Rental places a high level of responsibility on its assistant managers, and appreciates the challenges and learning that accompanies this position. Assistant Managers hold an opportune position at Equipment Rental and with maturity and sound decision making will have the opportunity to move into higher levels of management

Schedule: 7:30a - 5:30p – Some Saturdays ; (5) days worked each week (hours may vary for opening and closing days)

Pay: $22/hr-$25/hr + Commission - (annual expectation is $55K - $65K)

Benefits: Full benefits offered once permanent: pay 100% of health care, retirement plan with employer matching, PTO can earn up to (20) day paid vacation days, plus employees get (8) days of off paid holiday time, we pay for New years day, Memorial Day, labor day, 4th of July, thanksgiving, and pay for the 24th - 26th of December; as well as pay for uniforms and steel toe boots.

Employee Relations

Gaining and maintaining respect through showing concern for your employees

Setting a proper example arriving to work on time and dressed appropriately

Communicating employee issues with your manager

Explaining customer issues or concerns with your manager or other employees as necessary

Discipline

Knowledge of forms available and usage for disciplinary actions

Learning proper scale of response to employee disciplinary issues

Grow and gain knowledge to become interactive and prevent issues from arising

Facility Works and Ergonomics

Making sure your branch is ready for business

Walking your location so you are aware of what chores need to be managed (i.e. sweeping, cleaning, ant facilities maintenance needed.)

Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and safety throughout your branch in the event of an emergency

Proper lock down and security for your branch

Present a professional work place

Keep employees in the proper attire and appropriate appearance

Keep employees working with a positive attitude and work ethic

Maintain a clean and safe facility

Keep equipment ready for rent, lined up and organized

Satisfying and Serving Our Customers

Understanding your customers needs

Creating a friendly atmosphere

Providing the fastest and most courteous service possible

Resolving customer problems in a fair, professional and efficient manner

Encouraging more business through inquiring about your customers jobs and making equipment recommendations

Working Conditions

Most work will be indoors with limited exposure to outside elements, but may be exposed to factors such as temperature and weather extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes

Requires constant interaction with internal staff and the public

Knowledge of computer systems to gather and analyze essential information for the future of the business is important

Must be able to quickly understand and resolve problems

Must maintain and commit to a safe work environment for all present

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, carry, and safely move a minimum 50 pounds unassisted. Manual Dexterity — The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects.

Workdays require periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting and maneuvering material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.

Other Tasks

Assume employee responsibilities when needed

Attend company and safety meetings

Perform other duties as assigned

Work counter as needed

Answer incoming calls when needed

Roles and Responsibilities

Manage deliveries and picks ups

Appearance of main building

Customer service

Open and close duties

Compliments operation manager duties

Knowledge with chains/binders/tie downs straps, various trailer ball coupler sizes and proper truck/trailer classifications to ensure safety for our customers, staff, and equipment. and the ability to train staff on these topics

Collect 5 leads per week that outside sales team and follow up on.

Monthly Fire extinguisher safety checks

Constant check of reservation list to check for overbooked reservation

Communicate with yard manager to ensure reservation list is getting prepared

Computer skills and email communications, proper writing skills/business communication

Employee Relations

Qualifications

(3-5) years of rental/equipment sales/management experience preferred

Must maintain a professional personal appearance.

Must possess sales, customer, employee relation skills.

Must have a valid driver’s license.

ASSISTANT MANAGER” WORKS A 45-50 HOUR WORK WEEK AND USUALLY TAKES A HOUR LUNCH & SOMETIMES MIGHT ONLY HAVE A 30 MINUTE LUNCH DEPENDING ON ADEQUATE STORE COUNTER COVERAGE. THE “ASSISTANT MANAGER” WOULD WORK 1 OR 2 SATURDAY/S A MONTH, TO ENSURE ADEQUTE COVERAGE, IF OTHER STAFF ARE ON VACATION. WEEKS THAT SATURADY WOULD BE A WORK DAY YOU WOULD HAVE A DAY OFF MONDAY-FRIDAY.
