OverviewYour responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the duties outlined below, in addition to those described in the Social Studies Teacher job description on file with Talent/HR for the District and those provided in the employee handbook.Your scheduled work hours are 7:30am – 4:30pm.Instructional Delivery and AssessmentDevelop and implement Oklahoma standards-based unit plans and lesson plans that engage students in the study of history, civics, geography, economics, and culture.Design rigorous and relevant learning experiences that promote inquiry, critical thinking, and real-world connections.Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies to ensure academic growth for all students.Integrate literacy and academic vocabulary strategies to strengthen reading comprehension and written expression in the content area.Embrace and apply feedback from instructional coaching, peer collaboration, and data analysis to continuously refine teaching practice.Academic and Cultural SupportCollaborate with grade-level and content teams to support a joyful and academically rigorous learning environment.Build positive, trusting, and respectful relationships with students and families that reinforce high expectations and a strong classroom culture.Participate in school-wide responsibilities, including morning duty, hallway supervision, lunch duty, and dismissal support.Attend and actively engage in staff meetings, professional development sessions, family conferences, open houses, PTO events, and other school community activities.Communicate clearly and consistently with families regarding student progress, classroom expectations, and instructional goals.Demonstrate professionalism by meeting deadlines, maintaining accurate records, and upholding school policies and expectations.CompetenciesCommitment to KIPP Tulsa’s mission and a belief that all students can achieve at high levels.Demonstrated success in supporting academic growth, particularly for students in educationally underserved communities.Strong desire to deliver an academically rigorous curriculum and to participate in the extended school day, week, and year that support student learning.Willingness to engage in ongoing professional learning, accept and apply feedback, and contribute to a collaborative team culture.Flexibility, initiative, and a student-centered mindset; willingness to do what is necessary to ensure every KIPP Tulsa scholar receives excellent instruction and meaningful support.
