POSITION SUMMARY:
Operator is a full-time hourly position. Operator operates heavy equipment in the completion of heavy civil construction projects in a safe and efficient manner and according to federal and state heavy highway regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Level 1):
Engage in open communication with Superintendent and Foreman
Safely, efficiently and effectively operate heavy equipment
Coordinate machine actions with crew members in response to hand or audio signals
Be constantly aware of your surroundings while operating heavy equipment, as to not injure persons or property
Use GPS to achieve horizontal and vertical control, if applicable
Proficiently operate:
Trackhoes
Large and small bulldozers
Skid steers
Roller compactors
AND/OR
Asphalt lay down machines
Asphalt rollers
Milling machines
Conduct daily pre and post work inspections on Company equipment, as to identify any safety or maintenance issues
Promote, execute and adhere to the Company’s Safety Program and encourage all co-workers to do the same
May perform other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Level 2)
Same as Operator 1, but must also be able to:
Load and unload heavy equipment from transport trailers when necessary
Proficient at calculating off of grade stakes
Proficiently operate:
Finish dozer
Finish motor grader
