Wondery Art + Adventure School is an art school located in Southwest Bend serving ages two through adult. Our beautiful space features a main visual arts studio for kids classes and camps, a ceramics studio for kids and adults, and a classroom for our Reggio-inspired Little Artists program.
Overview
We are currently hiring part-time art instructors to support our school year programming beginning now through the middle of June (after school art classes, Little Artists preschool program, events, birthday parties), as well as full time instructors for summer camps beginning at the end of June. Our instructors have a deep passion for the creative process and desire to support kids in navigating their creative journey.
Responsibilities will vary depending on the position and may include:
-Facilitate and/or assist with weekly art classes during the day with littles (ages 2-5) and after school with elementary students (ages 5-11)
-Guide children through the creative process by inviting them to create through setting up thoughtfully curated and displayed provocations, asking process-focused questions, inspiring their imaginations and empowering them with instruction to develop new skills
-Prep themed provocation materials for children to explore through open-ended/ process-based art activities
-Develop and maintain a program culture of joy, willingness to take creative risks and celebration of the creative processes of each artist
-Develop positive relationships with children and families
-Respond to communication from families promptly and professionally
-Organize and clean the studio after classes to ensure the space is ready for other groups and build a culture of caring for the studio with children
-Capture photos of classes for our social media/website and upload them to a shared album after class
-Monitor supply inventory and make supply requests in a timely manner to keep the program stocked with general art supplies and specific project-based supplies
-Attend staff meetings
Qualifications
-Prior experience working with preschool and/or school-age children in a creative capacity is required
-Experience with a range of media and a love for creative play
-Consistent availability during the morning, after school and/or weekends
-Background check
