This is a full time seasonal position that works closely with Recruiting, Payroll, and Risk Management. The HR Specialist administers recruiting, onboarding and employment related tasks for all departments. Recruiting staff provides support to managers and works closely with applicants to ensure a strong pipeline of quality candidates to fill upcoming job opportunities. The HR Specialist may operate as a back-up to the Payroll and Benefits Coordinator.Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:Recruiting & Employment Management

Maintain accurate job listings on internal and external recruiting systems

Determine the need to post outside of our system, i.e. Craigslist, SAM, social media

Coordinate with hiring managers regarding open positions and hiring needs

Perform employment verification of potential candidates

Help to design, coordinate, deliver and track attendance of HR Orientations

Administer background checks

Preform various types of data entry with strong attention to detail

Ensure proper electronic or manual filing of documentation

Provide support at HR events and for seasonal hiring. Typically this includes attending career fairs, annual employee events and/or providing backup to the employee services area on an occasional basis

During peak guest times, all HR staff may support Tickets, Food and Beverage and/or other departments

Secondary Functions:Payroll Processing and Workers Compensation

Able to process and distribute payroll

Assist Payroll and Benefits Coordinator in resolving problems with paperwork, timecards and paychecks

Assist pay period record keeping, reporting and auditing

Process off cycle special, bonus, stop pay/reissue check requests

Answer questions from department and company leadership related to pay and benefits deductions and resolve any issues

Work with Payroll and Benefits Coordinator to ensure accuracy and make adjustments to annual W2's and required state and federal tax reporting

Assist Risk Manager in filing worker's compensation claims related to employee incidents

Assist in administering return to work programs and related accident investigations

Specific Job Skills:License/Certifications- SHRM or PHR certification preferredTechnical- Advanced base of computer operation skills with the foundation to learn new programs. In depth understanding of Microsoft Office, with advanced use of Excel. Depth of knowledge of HRIS (ADP) programs a plus.Additional- Ski area experience, recruiting experience. Excellent customer service skills. Strong communication and public speaking skills are paramount, ability to present in front of large groups with impact and influence.Education/Related Experience:Minimum education required - Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field. Will consider directly related experience in lieu of a degree.Minimum time in related position Minimum of three years' experience in Accounting, Recruiting, Human Resources, or related field required.
