Position Summary:

Are you motivated by teamwork and thrive in a fast-paced kitchen setting? The Kitchen Operations and Support position is essential for ensuring smooth daily operations in Bethlehem Inn’s commercial kitchen. This role emphasizes inventory management, cleanliness, and meal preparation, working closely with staff and volunteers while adhering to Oregon Health Department guidelines for food safety and quality.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

(Includes the following; other duties may be assigned)

- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the kitchen, dining room, and storage areas.

- Ensure proper storage of all food, dishware, and equipment.

- Stock supplies in kitchen and dining areas, including paper towels, soap, and disposable items.

- Assist the Kitchen Manager and volunteers with meal preparation and serving, ensuring healthy meals are provided efficiently.

Compliance & Safety:

- Adhere to Oregon Department of Health food handling and sanitation standards.

- Address kitchen or food production issues promptly.

Teamwork & Flexibility:

- Support other staff members as needed to maintain operations.

- Work hours may vary based on meal schedules and program needs.

- Serve diverse populations with cultural sensitivity, empathy, and non-discrimination.

- Exhibit integrity, ethical behavior, and a sense of urgency.

- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external stakeholders.

- Provide coverage and assistance to team members in all tasks as required to maintain service continuity.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Oregon Food Handler’s Card (to be obtained while working).

- Strong judgment, crisis management skills, and commitment to confidentiality.

- Reliable, punctual, and flexible to meet organizational needs.

- Proficiency in written and verbal communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Bilingual and/or bicultural proficiency preferred.

- Experience in human services with special needs populations, advocacy for low-income groups, and an understanding of culturally diverse communities.

- Knowledge of local community resources.

- Two years of direct service experience in a food service environment.

- Familiarity with community resources.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: Starting from $19.00 per hour
