PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Performs duties as representative of the City Engineer for ensuring inspection of all construction activity within the City’s rights-of-way. Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and local codes and standards and contractual provisions.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Mandatory Requirements:
High school diploma, or GED equivalent; Two (2) years education in an accredited technical school or community college, with major studies in civil engineering principles, practices and techniques, or a minimum of three (3) years of experience and training which has provided specific knowledge to perform a full range of civil engineering related tasks. Considerable knowledge of the following: public construction and inspection methods with the appropriate materials and testing techniques, the principles of engineering design procedures, mathematics including trigonometry and its application to engineering problems, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the above-described duties.
Special Requirements/Licenses:
This position will require the use of City vehicles. Possession of, or required to obtain a valid Oregon driver’s license within thirty (30) days of hire.
Must have a safe driving record.
Must have flagger certification or required to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
Desirable Requirements:
Water Distribution I Certificate, Wastewater Collection I Certificate, Water Treatment I Certificate, Wastewater Treatment Operator I Certificate, Completion of Inspectors Training Course, Materials Testing certificate.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPTMENT:
PPE requirements as outlined in the position specific PPE Hazard Assessment Certification.
