As a tipi manufacturer, we are looking for a shop assistant to our Production Manager. We are looking for a strong person who likes physical work, who enjoys being on their feet during work hours and can multitask if needed. The main areas of assistance will be in cutting the fabrics for our tipis in preparation for the seamstresses, and shipping completed orders. Both tasks require frequent lifting, pulling and carrying as well as concentration and precision in measuring, entering data and working with computer systems. Job responsibilities also include repetitive or 'mundane' tasks such as cutting rope into bundles, assembling items, folding and cleaning - but the positive part is that it is in a friendly, team orientated and cooperative environment where we all enjoy working together to bring the most beautiful, high quality tipis into the world. You can look us up and learn more about us at www.tipi.com
Please look through the job description and take a moment to reflect if this is something you would enjoy doing. It is an entry pay position of $17/hr and we offer 6% match to your 401(k) retirement plan, but no health insurance.
We also have a sewing station at our shop and if you know how to sew, we could add 2-3 days of sewing work for you, which would be a different pay as well. Please let us now if this is of interest to you.
We are flexible and can discuss how many days/wk you would like to work and when the best time of day would be for you. We are a seasonal business and looking to start someone off 2-3 days in February, then move to 3-4 days or even full time from March-June, and then reduce hours again in the summer and fall. We are a group of people who truly feel a respect for Mother Nature, the Native Culture and the choices that every individual makes about their own lives. We are a smoke-free shop and smoking is also not allowed outside. Also, our business is in a beautiful setting, but slightly remote without shops around, so running errants during lunch break would not be possible.
In your application, please tell us a little bit about yourself, why you are interested in this position and how you would fit into our team.
We are looking forward to hearing from you.
