General Duties

The Bend-Redmond Habitat for Humanity, Inc. (“BRHFH”) Human Resource Manager is responsible for managing the human resources department and ensuring that operations are conducted properly and efficiently. The manager has knowledge and understanding of all aspects of HR operations. The manager works under the direction and supervision of the Chief Executive Officer.

Education and Experience

Four year degree or equivalent; management degree preferred.

Leadership experience. Knowledge and experience in social service operations preferred.

Managerial and personnel administration experience. Excellent communication skills.

Experience facilitating conflict management and resolution. Ability to collaborate and develop effective teams.

Skills

Excellent writing and communication skills (including interpersonal communication).

Good bookkeeping skills with the ability to accurately complete payroll cycle in a timely manner, create and analyze reports, spreadsheets, and financial statistics; prepare and administer budgets.

Ability to work as part of a team and effectively communicate with supervisors, co-workers, volunteers, donors, and customers.

Ability to lead and manage volunteers and employees; ability to select, supervise, train, and evaluate personnel according to BRHFH's personnel policies and procedures.

Strong management skills and ability to develop, lead, and nurture high performance and a team atmosphere.

Highly collaborative, organized, detailed, and efficient. Strong work ethic and demonstrated conflict resolution skills.

Self-motivated and ability to work and properly perform job duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision and/or in stressful situations, and to complete tasks in a timely way.

Ability to plan, organize, and direct HR operations. Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.

Ability and willingness to take direction and supervision from the Chief Executive Officer.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to complete written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems effectively and efficiently.

Exceptional integrity and honesty, with the ability to maintain confidentiality.

Working Conditions

Most work is performed indoors and at a desk

Requires valid driver’s license and must meet company’s insurance requirements; occasional driving

Some tasks involve working with volunteers and staff, while other tasks are performed independently and in a quiet setting

Mobility required as files, volunteers and staff are in various offices throughout the county

Remains in stationary positions for extended periods of time. Remains in a standing (and seated) position for extended periods of time. Sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, and squatting in the performance of daily activities. Grasping, repetitive hand movement, fine coordination in writing and using a computer keyboard.

Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information.

Communicate (orally and in written form) detailed instructions to others accurately, loudly, and/or quickly.

Work involves perceiving the nature of sounds by ear. Work also involves having clarity of vision at various distances.

Varied work schedule.

Essential Functions

The essential duties and responsibilities of the HR Manager are varied, but a sample include, without limitation, those duties and responsibilities identified below:

Examples of Duties

Human Resources

Complete onboarding of all new hires, including the file setup and background checks

Maintain personnel files

Maintain and complete ongoing garnishments, or other outside agency interaction with employees (i.e., employment verifications)

Coordinate with other supervisors to assist with discipline procedures as needed

Complete payroll and quarterly/annual reporting

Coordinate benefits for employees

Employee Related Accounts Payable

Work with employment related vendors to negotiate better terms for BRHFH

Process payroll on a semi-monthly basis

Coordinate employee information for annual workers compensation audit

Create required audit schedules and pull documents as required for annual audit

Coordinate all Insurance claims and policies (auto, liability, workers comp, accident, property, etc.) related to staff

Track and reconcile (monthly and annually) benefit programs

Employment

The HR Manager is an exempt employee under state and federal laws. The employee will work on a full-time basis, with irregular work hours, including nights and weekends, as necessary or appropriate. The HR Manager is employed on an at-will basis.

The Chief Executive Officer, in consultation with the Chief Financial Officer, is responsible to review and evaluate the HR Manager’s job performance.

If determined necessary or appropriate, Management may modify, supplement, revise, change, and/or delete all or any part(s) of this job description.
