Oregon Family Support Network is hiring a part time Regional Family Support Specialist to work in Central Oregon.

The Regional Family Support Specialist is a peer with lived experience who works with families raising a child with developmental, emotional, behavioral or other mental health challenges. The primary role is to provide short term, individual parent support, information and referral through various engagement activities in one of four Oregon regions. These activities include but are not limited to: facilitating support groups, participating in community outreach activities and programs and delivering training in coordination with the Statewide Training Program. The Regional Family Support Specialist uses personal and professional life experience to provide orientation and mentoring of families to increase awareness and maximize parent/caregiver voice, choice and involvement in systems of care and policy making committees and councils.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

— Orient, coach and mentor families to increase involvement in system of care policy and decision making committees and councils and strengthen the opportunity for family-professional partnership.

— Provide a positive perspective, model effective communication and demonstrate a positive advocacy role.

— Maintain strict confidentiality standards according to HIPAA.

— Maintain local resource information for families to access independently.

— Coordinate and facilitate support group activities and participate in community outreach events.

— Have up-to-date (current) information about services and resources in the region.

— Consistently interacts with others in a courteous and professional manner.

— Share and use personal lived experience and professional expertise to provide support to youth and families

— Track and log all family engagement, progress notes and other confidential information into databases.

— Deliver parent engagement and advocacy trainings within the region and in collaboration with the Statewide Training Program.

— Conduct community outreach activities as assigned by the supervisor.

— Support direct family engagement in system of care and wraparound governance committees.

2. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

— Maintain personal and professional boundaries.

— Participate in regular supervision.

— Represent core agency and program values and principles in all work settings.

— Produce and maintain accurate and timely documentation according to the assigned schedule

— Attend staff meetings and scheduled trainings.

— Demonstrate culturally effective sensitivity and responsiveness to varying cultural characteristics and beliefs.

— Travel throughout the assigned region and may need to stay overnight occasionally.

— Support the development and connection of families to natural supports within their community.

3. QUALIFICATIONS

— Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check.

— Minimum: regular high school diploma.

— Proficient with Microsoft Office environment (knowledge of Excel helpful).

— Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to work successfully with people in a variety of situations.

— Knowledge of families, family support principles, family driven and youth guided care.

— Ability and experience to work with diverse cultural, religious, racial, educational, socio-economic and alternative cultural backgrounds.

— Experience serving on Boards and Committees.

— Group facilitation skills/training preferred.

— Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

— Knowledge and understanding of confidentiality standards according to HIPAA

— Ability to work independently.

— Ability to exercise good judgment, courtesy and tact in public contact and in handling problems.

— Ability to work with others in a team environment.

— Ability to work in various locations and schedule work in a flexible manner.

— General knowledge of office machines and telephones.

— Must be able to be registered as a Traditional Health Worker within 6 months of hire.
