Apprentice Level Carpenter/General Labor
Position Overview:
An Apprentice Level Carpenter is responsible for safely building, remodeling, installing, and repairing structures, fixtures, and other items using different types of materials, including wood, steel, and concrete, under direct supervision.
Essential Functions:
Responsible for your own safety and the safety of others working around you.
Participate in job site safety meetings and discussions
Perform small-scale building demolition
Perform job site general labor
Perform job site cleanup
Safely operate construction tools and equipment
Perform wood and metal stud framing
Perform some drywall and painting work
Perform interior finish carpentry
Install doors, hardware, windows, siding, cabinets, fixtures, and millwork
Install/apply waterproofing materials
Perform additional assignments as requested by the Superintendent, Project Manager, or Owner.
Job Scope:
Work direction is provided, follows established practices and procedures regarding building practices and safety procedures.
Qualifications/Skills:
Ability to follow Mission Building and OR-OSHA safety practices
Detail-oriented with an analytical approach to solving problems
Experience using construction hand and power tools
Ability to put work product in place in a timely and effective manner
Basic knowledge of spoken and written English, sufficient to understand instructions and communicate with others.
Experience/Education/Training:
Some demonstrable construction experience
High School Diploma or GED
Valid Oregon Driver's License
Work Environment:
This position generally requires 8 hours a day. The workweek is Monday through Friday, and occasionally on weekends/nights, depending on the project. This position requires work in the outdoors in all types of weather. It requires walking, standing, bending, and stooping for extended periods, at times in confined spaces. Work can occur on ladders, scaffolds, and other above-ground locations. Employees may be exposed to dust, fumes, noise, and variation in temperature. Work requires lifting and carrying heavy objects.
