Blue Fern Construction is a family-owned construction company specializing in single family, townhome and multifamily construction throughout the Pacific Northwest.
The Superintendent is responsible for managing the daily operation of construction projects, including oversight of company resources and subcontractors, to successfully complete projects within contract budget while meeting requirements, plans and specifications. The best candidate for this role will be able to maintain standards of excellence in safety, quality and productivity on the job site while also serving as a company representative and point of contact with the public, owners, subcontractors and suppliers.
Roles & Responsibilities
Daily On-Site Operations Management:
Establish schedules
Control project costs
Manage direct procurement of tools and materials necessary for work completion
Facilitate communication and updates with internal and external customers (project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, owners, and architects, engineers, crew, office, etc.)
Direct and control all job site personnel, equipment, materials and suppliers
Consistently inspect for and maintain standards of excellence in safety, quality and productivity
Regular, Accurate and Professional Documentation of the Following:
Project schedule and progression
Work orders, meeting minutes, back charges, purchase orders, RFI’s, photo documentation, and safety conditions
Performance of direct reports
Safety conditions and accident reports
Daily Job log with photo documentation
Contribution to Continuous Product and Service Improvement:
Minimize errors and emergencies through forward thinking and planning
Understand the consistency of details throughout the project
Demonstrate a willingness to acquire additional skills and take the initiative to do so
Provide procedural improvement recommendations
Skills & Qualifications
Demonstrated leadership and delegation skills
Knowledge of building process and methods
Proficient with personal computer and word-processing and spreadsheet software
Well-versed at reading and interpreting blueprints
Basic understanding of all construction trades and subcontractors’ scopes of work
Must have good written and verbal communication skills (English language)
Excellent customer service skills and initiative
Valid driver’s license
Physical Requirements
This position requires moderate physical activity while performing strenuous daily activities. Will regularly be required to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, talk, hear. Will occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
