Heavy Equipment / Diesel Mechanic

Roles and Responsibilities

Conduct service and repairs on all light and heavy-duty construction equipment including skid steers, mini excavators, large excavators, dump trucks, crushers and mining equipment, light-duty pickups, and small equipment

Routinely service fleet pickup trucks

Disassemble, assemble, and troubleshoot equipment for repair at a shop or on the job site

Repair, replace, or rebuild engines, transmissions, carburetors, final drives, steering, clutches, cross shafts, hydraulic components including pump motors, valves and all related components, electrical systems, and air systems

Weld and fabricate material for equipment repairs

Operate crane on service trucks

Demonstrate the use of safety equipment and PPE in compliance with company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations to minimize or eliminate the risk of workplace accidents

Report incidents immediately to the safety director, foreman, or HR by incident reporting procedures established by the company

Perform all other duties as assigned to aid in the overall success of the company

Basic Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent required and applicable trade school certification

Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience

A working knowledge of equipment brands: John Deere, Kubota, Bobcat, Kenworth, Alison, Ford, and more

Solid organizational skills to track and manage service records and inventory of equipment

Current driver’s license and good driving record

Maintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks (up to 1 1/2”)

Reliable and safety-minded

Preferred Skills

Must have physical strength and manual dexterity, including hand/eye coordination, to manage all materials and tasks as required per job

Ability to climb ladders, stairs, elevated platforms, work around moving equipment, work in dusty and or high wind environments

Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50lbs regularly and stand/walk up to 90% of a normal workday

Must be able to work independently with little or no direct supervision and in a fast-paced environment with adherence to shop timelines for repairs

Possess good communication skills for internal and external customers
