Corvallis Caring Place (CCP), a not-for-profit assisted living facility located in Oregon’s beautiful Willamette Valley, provides compassionate, quality care for seniors who need assistance with activities of daily living. CCP is a 42 apartment facility that offers affordable studio or one-bedroom apartments to seniors. We are currently seeking compassionate individuals for the role of Resident Assistant (RA)/Caregiver. Our Resident Assistants are responsible to both assist with activities of daily living [ADLs] per the resident's service plan and to enrich the lives of our residents on a daily basis. ADLs include tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transfers/mobility. Additionally the RAs help promote a general sense of well-being and encourage socialization opportunities. Must be self-motivated and show initiative while working within a team. Currently recruiting for 30+ hours per week, day shift (6 AM - 2 PM). This position will be eligible for benefits after 60 days from hire. Experience desired but will train. Successful Resident Assistants have potential to advance to Medication Technicians.Essential Functions:

Monitor and provide hygiene and general care of the resident’s body, skin, nails, hair, eyes, ears, mouth, and face.

Assist residents with dressing, bathing, and grooming as needed with privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.

Aid in the transfer of residents (i.e. lying to sitting, standing to sitting, etc) using proper body mechanics and safety techniques.

Escort residents to various meals, events, and activities.

Respond to resident pull cord calls promptly. Assure that pull cords are accessible to resident

Assist with restorative exercises as directed by outside professionals.

Report observations and pertinent information to the Medication Technician or Health Services Manager, such as unusual symptoms, changes, accidents, injuries, etc.

Provide emotional support and validation to residents as needed.

Encourage participation in activities of the resident’s choice.

Care for resident’s secondary needs such as dental care, cleaning of hearing aids, glasses, C-Pap machines and O2

Provide accurate resident documentation following Corvallis Caring Place Policy.

Practice standard precautions with all resident care.

Provide secondary housekeeping tasks as assigned (i.e. incontinent trash pick-up, making beds, tidying rooms, put away clean laundry).

Keep current on changes in resident needs as documented in resident service plans.

Assist with meal service and dining room clean up during assigned shift.

Provide laundry service as assigned during each shift.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Supportive of the Corvallis Caring Place Philosophy.

Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

Possession of a current First Aid card, including demonstrated ability to perform the Abdominal Thrust. If don’t possess a current card be willing to obtain one within one month of hire.

Ability to work with and communicate effectively with elderly.

Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.

Ability to move safely and frequently during the workday, including carrying, lifting, standing, sitting, bending, reaching, and kneeling.

Ability to pull/ push wheelchairs and other equipment.

Visual and auditory acuity within normal limits.

Must be responsive to change of work duties on short notice.

Sufficient written and verbal English language skills to follow instructions from staff and ability to understand and respond to resident’s needs.
