POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Manager, NSSS Systems Analysis, the person in this role applies technical knowledge, insight, reasoning, and decision making to perform analyses of the fluid systems within the NuScale Power Plant nuclear steam supply system (NSSS) to support advancement of the design. They will utilize a strong analytical background in performing transient and/or flow induced vibration analyses in collaboration with the rest of the team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Uses thermal-hydraulic software and engineering tools to perform analyses on the design and performance of NSSS systems.

Perform and check engineering evaluations in accordance with NuScale company procedures, by applying sound engineering thermal hydraulics and structural mechanics fundamentals, including familiarity with standard system analysis software ( e.g. RELAP, ANSYS, GOTHIC).

Prepare, check, and review calculations and reports in the field of flow-induced vibration.

Interacts with co-workers and other disciplines to promote effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems. Individuals should be interested in acquiring general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields in order to function on multi-disciplinary teams.

Possess strong written and oral communication skills.

Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

Education: A minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical) is required . A registered Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is desired.

Experience: A minimum of 3 years of nuclear/non-nuclear experience as a thermal-hydraulic engineer is required. A master’s degree in an applicable field may substitute for up to 1 year of experience. Must have s trong competency in technical writing skills , clear communications, and presentation and interpersonal skills. Exceptional organization skills and the ability to manage complex projects with multiple work phases is required. Additional experience in the following areas is desired:

Analysis of system performance and transient operations, including water hammer, high energy line break, steam generator heat transfer, compartment heating/pressurization

Use of software: RELAP, ANSYS (Mechanical and CFD), GOTHIC, plus normal office software

Analysis of components for flow induced vibration mechanisms, as well as experience with vibration testing and data analysis

Computer programming skills ( e.g. Python, Matlab )

Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

The target pay range for this position is $83,356 - $100,602 annually. The full pay range is $74,733 - $116,889.
