Gathering Together Farm in Philomath, is seeking a part-time Farm Lunch Cook. On our working organic produce farm, every weekday a cook prepares lunch for the field crew and on-site farm employees. “Farm lunch” is a time-honored tradition that brings everyone together to share a meal 5 times per week. It's also, literally, the fuel that runs the engine of this very labor-intensive operation. These meals are also considered an important employee benefit, so care and timing in delivery are vital.
This position will be cooking for all the farm’s on-site staff, which fluctuates between 20-50 people. The cooks are encouraged to use mostly the farm’s produce, and complement with protein. The lunch cook shares the kitchen with our bakery and lunch service staff for the restaurant.
Position Type, and expected Hours of Work:
6 hours per meal
Farm Lunch served at: 12:30pm
There is potential for this position to have more hours.
Responsibilities:
Plan, purchase, and prepare a nutritious meal
Cleaning up and washing dishes afterward.
Preferred qualifications and experience:
Possession of / or ability to possess a Food Handlers Card.
Performs additional duties as directed by management.
Experience planning and cooking meals on a budget
Ability to work in a busy and fast paced environment
Adhering to food safety guidelines and safely operating kitchen equipment
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift 50lbs or more.
