Faithful Friends Animal Clinic is currently searching for a Veterinary Technician/Assistant to join our team. This is a Full Time position.
The Veterinary Technician/Assistant is responsible for assisting Veterinarians in the care of animals. Duties include:
Assisting doctors with appointments, surgery, and client education per hospital policy.
Performing initial evaluation of the pet’s condition and inform doctors regarding nature of visit, and client concerns.
Obtaining and preparing laboratory samples as requested by the veterinarian, i.e. urine, fecal and ear cytology.
Restraining animals in a safe, efficient and compassionate manner during examinations and procedures.
Preparing and set up for surgical procedures while utilizing knowledge of proper sterile field requirements.
Monitoring recovery of surgery patients and communicate with owners.
Accurately prepare and dispense medications.
Monitoring hospitalized pets and performs treatments as directed by the doctor.
Utilizing hospital computer systems to document medical records and communicate with clients and teammates.
Job Requirements:
Must have a high school diploma/GED
Must have animal handling experience
Must be available to work M-F, including some weekends or holidays.
Must be physically fit and able to lift 50lb
Must possess strong and effective communication skills and be able to manage stressful situations.
Must have the physical and mental capacity to perform in a fast paced and sometimes challenging environment.
Must be dependable; demonstrate a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn.
