Main purpose of the Human Resources Assistant:

The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support for the Human Resources and Training departments.

Essential Duties:

Provide general clerical assistance to the Human Resources and Training departments, including but not limited to; data entry, keyboarding, filing, phoning, faxing, photocopying, preparing mailings, distributing, etc.;

Assist in the maintenance of the Human Resources Information System and Relias Learning Database;

Provide support to staff concerning employment status, benefits and position requirements, as requested;

Assist HR Directors/Managers in maintaining employee personnel and confidential files within established standards for security, confidentiality and retention;

Assist in the hiring process by preparing required material for training academy week. These duties will include providing attendees with confirmation information, preparing new hire packets and room; provide other assistance as requested by hiring supervisors/managers;

Meet with new hires for paperwork processing, performing all new hire employment screenings including conducting required background verifications and entering in the CRIMs databank. Share information and assist employees in the completion of insurance enrollment paperwork;

Produce reports and other documents as required and/or requested by the VP of HR, HR Director and Recruitment & Compensation Director;

In conjunction with the Human Resources Director provide support in managing the Worker’s Compensation Program (on the job-injury program). Assisting staff in completing the appropriate forms and documentation. Update injury log as needed. Managing the Early Return to Work program, as needed. Filing for Early Return to Work Reimbursement.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent with preference given to candidates pursuing degree in human resources related field or professional certification.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Maintain a driving record acceptable by the agency and a current driver’s license for state of residence, when authorized to use own vehicle for agency business, employee must maintain personal insurance

Experience: At least one (1) year human resources relevant experience required.

Job Knowledge: Work is routinely performed within the task areas defined above, is complex and is reviewed by the Recruitment Manager and Human Resources Director.

Skills: Computer skills, word processing, data entry and spreadsheet software.
