We are currently seeking both seasonal/holiday help and permanent part-time positions for our Animal Care Handler role. The ideal candidate is punctual, a self-starter, can keep up during stressful and busy times, has excellent communication and teamwork skills, and has an overall positive attitude. We are continuously working to improve our culture and workspace, and seek to hire likeminded people.
Tasks & Responsibilities
-Be able to safely and comfortably handle a variety of dogs that vary in age, size, and temperament (including those who are nervous, overly excited, and strong pullers on-leash)
-Be able to recognize basic dog body language and behavior
-Supervise playgroups of up to +20 dogs alone or with another trained Handler, ensuring safety and appropriate play among the group, and remembering to document specific behavior or health concerns for each dog as needed
-Efficiently clean and sanitize kennels, play areas, and other common areas of the facility making sure not to cut corners
-Poop scoop yards, spot or deep clean kennels when needed, and handle waste appropriately
-Dishes, laundry, and other janitorial tasks
-Communicate efficiently with other Handlers, Receptionists, and Management regarding any behavior or health concerns
Scheduling
Our Animal Care Handler position is a part-time role (guaranteeing at least 30 hours per week) with opportunities for full-time hours (including cross-training as a Bather, working longer shifts on your scheduled days, and/or working alongside our Overnight Supervisor to help with after hours night potties during peak times). Shifts start as early as 6:30am and end as late as 6:30pm. Availability to work through 9pm during peak times (summer weekends, holidays, and sporadic weekends as needed) is a huge plus, and comes with a $2/hour increase for hours worked!
For those considering a permanent position with us we are currently seeking someone who has Sunday-Wednesday availability (although open availability is highly preferred).
For those considering a seasonal position with us we are seeking individuals who will have open availability during the holidays. This includes working the week and weekend of Thanksgiving, and at least the two weeks including Christmas Day and New Years Day, although open availability for most of December is highly desirable. Seasonal applicants should be available to start training no later than the first week of October, but scheduling for training can be flexible (especially for students) such as weekend-only availability to start. Outstanding seasonal employees will have the opportunity to be hired on permanently and/or will be welcome back to help with our 2025 peak dates!

Applicant Requirements
-Must be at least 18 years or older to apply
-Must have reliable transportation
-Must be able to work the shifts outlined above including weekends and holidays
-Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds independently and safely leash-walk dogs who are +80 pounds
-Must be able to stand for long periods of time, bend, at times squat and crawl, and safely walk up/down stairs
-Must be punctual, positive, and demonstrate excellent communication skills
-Must love animals!
