Engineering and manufacturing firm seeking a Truck Loader/Material Handler who can assist production staff in loading and unloading of freight, company deliveries, weld prep, post-weld clean-up, cleaning/washing steel, moving material, shop housekeeping, basic machine maintenance, and other activities critical in supporting the manufacturing process.
Primary responsibilities include:
Loading and unloading of flatbed trucks
Deliver and pick-up materials in company flatbeds
Maintain a clean and safe working environment and a hazard-free workplace, free of obstructions and obstacles Handling and working with metal in a variety of capacities
Working with power tools and equipment common to the steel manufacturing industry
Perform cutting and hole-making operations using plasma and/or oxy-fuel cutting tools
Handling of materials both with lift-trucks as well as by hand
Working with hydraulic and pneumatic tools
A qualified candidate must be able to lift up to 100 pounds on a regular basis, be able to prioritize duties and have good communication skills.
Additional skills should include knowledge of:
Fabrication drawings: structural steel shapes, sizes and material grades
Fabrication layout: math conversions from fractions to decimals/decimals to fractions
Measuring tapes, protractors, divider heads and micrometers.
Must be able to work with independently and with a team while taking direction from several individuals.
There will be opportunities for occasional overtime.
