First Presbyterian Church of Corvallis seeks a Front Desk Assistant. The Front Desk Assistant position is an hourly, part-time position (approximately 15 hours a week).

Qualified applicants will work on-site in the church office providing initial contact and assistance to members and guests. Also, contributing to tasks and operations with church office personnel as necessary to meet the mission of the church.

FRONT DESK ASSISTANT

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Competent telephone etiquette and computer skills with PC, MS Office and/or MAC OS, Apple Pages, Google Apps, and email.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Past clerical and administrative support experience. Familiarity with church operations desired.

- Demonstrated initiative and problem-solving abilities.

- Flexibility to work with frequent interruptions.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and respond in a caring manner.

- Willingness to take direction and work in a team environment.

REPORTS TO: Church Operations Manager

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provide a welcoming reception to members and visitors by answering the door and inquiries at the front desk window.

2. Answer and direct telephone calls and voicemails as the initial contact person for the church.

3. Check, answer and maintain church office emails.

4. Work closely with pastoral and office staff to ensure operational needs are met.

5. Attend weekly staff meetings.

6. Receive and distribute mail to church staff. Open and organize package deliveries.

7. Print and collate worship bulletins and other printed communications.

8. Maintain, organize and order office supplies.

9. Make copies and operate the copier/printer.

10. Maintain Google calendar and documents on Google drive as directed.

11. Receive and distribute facility rental queries to the Facilities Manager.

12. Assist with the planning of the church facility arrangement as needed for Sunday worship services and fellowship gatherings.

13. Unlock interior and exterior doors and set building alarm as needed.

14. Gather items needed for Sunday worship service such as communion elements, usher basket and bulletins.

15. Assist Office Administrative Assistant and Church Operations Manager in the maintenance and updating of the church website as directed.

16. Help the Office Administrative Assistant assemble and distribute the minutes and agenda packet for monthly Session, the ruling body, meeting.

17. Assist staff and church committees in coordinating and supporting volunteers in service to the church and its mission, as needed.

18. General office duties as directed by supervisor or other office staff.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS:

19. Represent the church in a professional, courteous, and positive manner at all times.

20. Ability to maintain confidentiality as pertains to acquired personal information.

21. Deal sensitively with persons from all backgrounds.

22. Communicate effectively with staff, church members, committees and visitors.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Work with frequent interruptions.

- Be able to occasionally lift or move packages or boxes up to 30 pounds.

- Prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions.
