Pet Boarding Facility Receptionist

The Albany Pet Hotel is seeking customer-focused and animal-loving individuals to join our Receptionist team!

Our facility is located near downtown Albany and offers overnight pet boarding, dog daycare, and select grooming services. We run off of a small team of like-minded individuals who thrive off of teamwork and know how to be proficient in a fast-paced environment. We pride ourselves in excellent pet care, careful attention to details, overnight staff and care for peace of mind, and high standards of cleanliness, care, and customer service for our pet parents.

Tasks & Responsibilities

-Safely handle a variety of dogs and cats ranging in age, size, and temperament

-Be able to read common pet body language and respond appropriately for pets who are nervous, timid, and over excitable

-Efficiently check clients in/out, accurately enter in belongings and document feeding and medication instructions, handle money transactions, and answer multi-line telephones

-Provide excellent customer service to clients and their pets, and be able to handle minor disputes should they arise

-Demonstrate excellent communication skills among other receptionists, managers, and our clients

-Respond to texts, calls, and emails within a timely manner

-Promote and recommend services depending on client's and pet's needs

-Help hold for walk-in nail trims and other grooming services

-Provide care for our boarding cats including cleaning litter boxes, feeding, watering, providing extra services, and fully sanitizing kennels after use

-Help keep our reception and lobby area clean and sanitized

-Work efficiently and professionally with other receptionists during busy times

-Some janitorial duties including cleaning kennels, laundry, dishes, and mopping as needed

The ideal candidate is someone who is a self-starter, confident in their customer service skills, and enjoys staying busy. Prior professional experience working with dogs and cats is a huge plus, but not a requirement. We are seeking candidates with at least 6 months of prior receptionist experience.

Scheduling & Availability

-Applicants should have open availability (Monday through Saturday), although we are primarily seeking someone who is available Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and some Saturdays

-Shifts are scheduled as early as 6:30am and as late as 6:30pm with several scheduled 12 hour shifts during the week

-This is a part-time position guaranteeing at least 26-30 hours per week

-Full time hours are available to those who are interested in cross training as a Bather, during our busy holiday/peak times, or in the event a full time position becomes available

-Holiday availability (including Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, Fourth of July, etc.) is required if the holiday falls on your regular work day. Our holiday shifts are 7:30am-12:30pm.

Requirements

-Must be at least 18 years or older to apply and graduated high school

-Must be available to work the schedule outlined above

-Must be able to demonstrate excellent receptionist and customer service skills (prior receptionist experience is a HUGE plus!)

-Must be able to demonstrate a basic understanding for dog body language

-Must be punctual and on time for shifts

-Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds independently, be able to crawl, squat, bend, and lift, walk up and down one flight of stairs, stand for long periods of time, and be available to work our longer 12 hour shifts

-Must be able to handle dogs +80 pounds

Please note, while this is a receptionist position, our receptionist team is extremely hands on with bringing dogs to and from the lobby area and their kennels/play yard. This includes handling rambunctious and strong dogs! Our receptionist position can be physically demanding at times and requires an individual who can meet the physical requirements of the job.
