Field Mechanic/ Shop Mechanic
Stokes Construction, based in Philomath, is seeking an experienced and safety-driven heavy equipment mechanic for full-time work. We are a family business that was established in 1972. We build logging roads and are a very busy, contract-driven company.
Required Qualifications:
o Previous experience working on construction/logging heavy equipment, such as dump trucks, log trucks, graders, dozers, excavators, etc. This includes hydraulic repairs, electrical repairs, some welding, brake work, and standard maintenance. Willing to work in the field with a company provided service truck. Five days a week with occasional weekend work as needed.
o Ability to successfully troubleshoot mechanical/electrical problems.
o Ability to maintain accurate service records/schedules in accordance with ODOT regulations.
o Must be a self-starter and be willing to work overtime hours, evenings, and weekends as needed.
o Must be able to maintain productive relationships with other employees and vendors.
o Negative pre-employment drug test.
Duties:
o Responsible for maintaining and servicing our fleet of Kenworth dump/log trucks and various other road building equipment.
o Maintain an orderly stock of parts, grease, tools, etc.
o Maintain service and maintenance schedules as regulated by ODOT.
o Work with drivers/operators to troubleshoot, document, and correct problems.
o May require some travel to work sites in company provided service truck.
o Ensure that shop is in a safe and orderly condition.
Hourly compensation to be negotiated depending on experience. We offer Dental/Medical/Vision benefits after 2 months of full-time employment. Retirement Plan once requirements are met and PTO.
