Full Time (32-40 hrs. - Overtime during tax season)
$22-30/hour depending on experience and years in the field. (up to negotiation)
This is not a remote position, must be available to work in office.
A small firm in Eugene, Oregon is looking for a full-time in-house staff accountant / tax preparer. We are looking for an independent, hardworking, organized, and tech-savvy individual with experience in preparing tax returns, bookkeeping, and other accounting/tax matters. This full-time position offers 40+ hours a week during tax season and in the off-season averages 32-36 hours per week. The position can be flexible to help work around your schedule and your needs. This position has the potential for fast growth.
Requirements: Either a current tax preparer license or in the process of actively getting one (EA, LTC, LTP, CPA) or higher education with emphasis in accounting or tax (bachelor’s degree and up or actively pursuing your degree). We will provide you with your needed continuing education requirements to maintain your license.
Prior work experience with CPA or Tax firms preferred. Must have strong communication skills (being able to communicate by phone and email with clients regularly), high organization and attention to detail, comfortable working in a paperless environment, high computer and software adaptability, strong ethics, strong numeracy and analytical skills, good problem solving, strong time management, and willing to work closely with those around you.

- Individual tax preparation (1040)
- Business tax preparation (1120, 1120S, 1065)
- Trust and Gift tax preparation (1041, 709)
- Bookkeeping (monthly reconciliations, data entry, general ledger, and financial statements)
- 1099 Preparation
- Payroll (ability to help payroll manager with client requests)
- Tax Projections and Tax Planning
- Local Personal Property Tax Returns (Lane County, Linn County)
- Corporate Activity Tax Returns (CAT)
- Help and Research for IRS and Oregon Notice Letters
- Research Tax Law and Changes
- Client Communication (answering questions, researching issues, etc.)
- Helping others with client projects
