Yabai Nikkei is a food cart specializing in locally-sourced, high-quality Japanese-American cuisine, part of food cart pod at ColdFire Brewing in Eugene's growing "River District". We are looking for one or two more people to round out our small team as we head into spring and summer.
We are not your typical food cart: we work with local farms and specialty purveyors, do real restaurant-level cooking, and serve our food with care on real plates. Beyond the cart, opportunities are available to help with farm dinners, pop-ups, and private events with our chef. If you are a beginning cook looking for an opportunity to learn culinary skills that will prepare you for a career in this industry, or an experienced cook looking to further your knowledge of local ingredients and Nikkei cuisine, we want to meet you!
Requirements:
- desire to learn / grow
- professional pride / attention to detail
- willingness to tackle a variety of tasks, including cleaning / dishwashing
- positive attitude / respect for customers, coworkers, and ingredients
- current Oregon food handlers card (due on first day of work)
Responsibilities:
- taking orders / cashiering
- cooking orders
- light prep
- maintaining a clean and neat work space
- closing the food cart and washing dishes
Compensation:
- $15-19 / hour DOE
- tips, +$5-10 per hour on average
- free shift meals for every shift
- 50% off for employees and immediate family
- full- or part-time available
