$31.64- $36.62/ hour (approx. $65,803.92- $76,176.26 annual), Pay depending on experience and based on State of Oregon defined bona fide factors in accordance with Oregon's Pay Equity Act.

Additional Incentive Pays:
5% for a bachelor’s degree
5% for intermediate Spanish speaking ability
1% for passing the Oregon Physical Abilities Test (ORPAT)
.5% for Mental Health participation
Overview:
The Police Property Controller performs a variety of complex public safety support duties including the processing, receipt, storage, safekeeping, release, and disposal of property or evidence that comes into the custody, or control of the Springfield Police Department. This position’s responsibilities include ensuring compliance with state and local laws, and codes and regulations while maintaining record keeping systems related to property and evidence.
Property Controller Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or GED certificate from an accredited school
Two years of experience in records management, tracking systems, or inventory control (Formal training or coursework in law enforcement evidence management may be substituted)
No felony convictions
Valid Oregon Driver’s License by time of appointment
Ability to pass a background investigation
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen
Ability to meet psychological requirements for the position
Refrain from tobacco products while on duty

Preference may be given for knowledge and prior experience in:
Law enforcement
Inventory management computer systems
Ability to speak Spanish
Handling of sensitive and dangerous materials (ex: chemicals, firearms, etc.)
This position must obtain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) and Law Enforcement Data Systems (LEDS) certification. Please note that in order to acquire certification, the individual cannot have any felony convictions, and any other criminal record is at the discretion of the certifying agency. CJIS requires finger printing as well.

Top candidates will be invited to oral boards.
Candidates considered for this position will be identified through a series of screening tools and tests including: employment application, comprehensive background, psychological exam, fit-for-duty medical/physical exam, and oral interviews.
