CLASSIFICATION TITLE OF THE JOB: Winter Seasonal Ranger

CLASSIFICATION CATEGORY: Temporary Non-Benefited Position – 40 hours per week, up to 6 Months in Duration

DEPARTMENT: Linn County Parks & Recreation, Clear Lake Resort, located in the Willamette National Forest

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

Patrol parks on foot; assist with code compliance

Maintain proper logbooks; prepare reports and provide public information to park visitors.

Cleaning cabins, restrooms, lodge and kitchen to department standards.

Be routinely present to identify and report problems with park facilities and equipment.

Start and stop generators at required hours; fuel generators; service generators.

Operate a bobcat and other County vehicles for snow removal; maintain roads/walkways for safety of guests and staff.

Ability to identify issues with, and safely operate, vehicles and small industrial equipment

Greet and interact with customers in a professional and polite manner.

Operate the Point of Sale system, reservation system and perform basic cashier duties; product stocking/ordering.

Rent boats and ensure boat cleanliness; maintain boat dock and boat launch area.

Assist with general construction; maintenance projects; general carpentry.

Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must pass a criminal history check.

Possession of a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

Willingness to live and work in winter conditions, in a remote location; ability to work Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.

Must have or be willing to obtain a First Aid/AED Card and Food Handlers Card.

Must be able to work independently, problem solve, have a high ethical standard and be proactive.

Ability to operate a variety of hand tools, power tools, small equipment and to learn about equipment servicing, diagnosing, and maintenance.

Ability to perform general maintenance to park buildings and facilities; perform janitorial services, including the use of chemicals.

Position requires frequent standing, walking, squatting, bending, kneeling, twisting, and repetitive forward and overhead reaching. Ability to lift/carry 50lbs. and push objects weighing up to 90 lbs; ability to perform physical labor for extended periods of time.

Must be a graduate of a senior high school or have your GED.

SALARY, BENEFITS, COMPENSATION:

Furnished housing will be provided at no cost to you.

Temporary Non-Benefited Position, 40 hours per week at a rate of $18.50 per hour.
