Job Title: Exterior Bus Painter

SUMMARY

Sprays surfaces of upscale luxury busses and other similar vehicles with decorative material such as paint and enamel by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Performs all functions of exterior paint process to upscale luxury vehicles including

Cleans grease and dirt from product.

Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated.

Fills cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface.

Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color.

Pours coating liquid into spray container and connects gun to airhose.

Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray.

Applies basecoat for pinstriping effect. Applies masking tape to create graphic layout.

Pulls trigger and directs spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat.

Performs airbrushing and other delicate artwork techniques to apply artwork and other decorative applications.

Cleans spraying equipment and brushes with solvent.

Removes all excess masking tape.

Sand and buffs clear coat.

Cleans stainless steel and readys coach for delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be familiar with all procedures incumbent in the paint prep process including degreasing and sanding metal and fiberglass panels. Must have experience handling, mixing, and application of basecoat/clearcoat materials. Must have experience in graphic art. Must be experienced in sanding and buffing techniques. Airbrush painting skills a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
