District Maintenance Department

Maintenance/Grounds III

8 hours year-round position

Performs multi-skilled work in the maintenance, construction and repair of buildings, equipment and grounds throughout the District. This position requires advanced skills in trades; HVAC service preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Has a license in one or more of the required fields: Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, etc.

Follows and maintains knowledge of all applicable District policy(ies) and procedures.

Maintains boilers, HVAC, pumps, steam lines, steam traps, thermostats, circulation pumps, water pumps, compressors and plumbing ensuring safe and effective operation District wide.

Performs routine construction duties including pouring concrete, plumbing, carpentry and fabrication.

Inspects, repairs, installs, services and maintains electrical systems including conduit and duct systems, light and power systems, switches, switchboards, fans, heaters, fixtures, boilers, bell and buzzer system and fire alarm systems.

Applies finishes to various surfaces such as wood, metal, glass, plaster, stucco, wall board, brick and cement.

Makes repairs and adjustments to plumbing equipment and apparatus in school plants, such as replacing broken pipe, cleaning plugged drains, flushing sewer lines and replacing faucets, washers and gaskets.

Performs routine maintenance on equipment and determines when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

Performs minor and some major repairs and adjustments to building fixtures and equipment.

Maintains and repairs air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.

Orders material and supplies needed to complete scheduled work.

Performs arc, acetylene and Mig welding, brazing and soldering, steam fitting, electrical work and plumbing.

Advises other semi-skilled and skilled maintenance staff.

Performs safety inspections and write reports.

Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff and parents and others, and resolves conflict in a professional manner.

Assists in maintaining all District grounds.

Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required.

Attends work regularly and is punctual.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Answers telephone.

Checks e-mail for staff requests.

Serves as back up to crew leader.

Assists custodial department as necessary.

Attends staff meetings and trainings as necessary.

Rotates on an on call rotation.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required. Associates degree or other technical training strongly preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Thorough working knowledge of maintenance methods and materials and the use of maintenance equipment. Knows applicable codes for electrical and plumbing.

Certificates as determined by the District. Must be licensed in at least one of the following: Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC or any other trade relevant to the maintenance field; HVAC service preferred. Must be able to obtain a valid CPR/First Aid card, a valid Oregon Driver License and Aerial Lift License. Must maintain a good driving record. Previous hazardous materials and asbestos training preferred.

Salary Range and Benefits:

To be determined by district policy and current pay schedule. Current salary range is $18.31 - $23.08. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance and long-term disability. Vacation days awarded based on years of service to the district. Sick leave awarded one day per month. Two personal leave days awarded per school year.
