Lake of the Woods Resort is currently seeking to hire an experienced Sous Chef/lead cook to join our newly expanded Lake House restaurant. The position of Sous Chef will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing guest satisfaction at our growing resort.
General Responsibilities
Assists in managing day-to-day kitchen operations, coordinate prep lists and food production schedules and ensure food quality, taste and presentation
Strive to not only know all stations, but be the best at all stations in the kitchen
Control food cost by training kitchen staff on proper food preparation, eliminate waste by ensuring rotation and proper production amounts
Assist Executive Chef with menu development and ensure adherence to recipes and product specifications, as well as assist in training kitchen staff on all new menus
Maintain effective communication within the kitchen, be responsive to staff suggestions and concerns and work to resolve problems
Maintain effective working relationship with FOH management and staff
Complete daily food orders based on scheduled banquet events and projected level of business
Delegate appropriate tasks to those who can best complete the job
Qualifications
2-3 years previous experience in restaurants as a lead cook or Sous Chef
3 years experience in high-volume kitchen/catering operation
Culinary degree is a plus
Lake of the Woods has nearly completed its expansion of the downstairs dining area, which will open its doors on May 1st 2019. By the beginning of 2020 the expansion will be complete with an additional bar upstairs as well as a large side deck. During which time the resort will turn from its seasonal venue to a year-round restaurant.
