Assistant Store Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Meet and emulate the core values of the company. Assist the Manager and train the staff to strive for these goals

Greet each customer with a positive attitude. Provide our customers with friendly, fast and courteous service. Encourage all customers to continue doing business at the store by thanking them and asking them to return

Assist the Manager in the supervision of staff performance and meet all Branded Fuel inspection requirements

Assist the Manager with supervision of staff performance and meet all legal and safety requirements for selling fuel and dispensing propane

Assist the Manager to control inventory and cash loss and meet established budgets/goals

Assist the Manager to meet the established store conditions goals for cleanliness, in-stocks and appearance

Assist the Manager and coach the staff to meet the established customer service goals

Assist the Manger to meet staffing plans

In the absence of the Manager Interact with FastBreak “Service” department to keep the store/station operating properly

In the absence of the Manager interact with FastBreak “Help” department to keep the store/station operating properly

Assist the Manager or work to meet accounting requirements that call for the completion of all store books and paperwork be completed accurately each day

Assist the Manager to meet all health department requirements for the selling of hot food, packaged food, fountain, coffee and frozen drinks

Assist the Manager to meet the OSHA requirements at the store/station

Assist the Manager and coach staff performance to meet all legal requirements for selling restricted products like cigarettes, tobacco, some medicine and lottery

Assist the Manager to provide safety training to prevent incidents, accidents and mis-fuels and conduct thorough investigations and report accurately and immediately to the company Safety Manager.

Keep merchandise displayed in an attractive manner and in specified positions to maximize store sales.

Assist the Manager to implement company/vendor POS and promote marketing products for the duration of the promotion

Assist the Manager to keep the store operating their scheduled hours and make sure all employees are meeting the meal and break laws applicable to their State.

Maintain a professional image at all times by wearing clean professional clothing and requiring staff to be well groomed and wear clean uniforms, a name tag and if pumping fuel wear a safety vest.

Travel to the bank and deposit assets and purchase coin needed to complete transactions at the store on the Manager’s days off

Assist the Manager to conduct regular cash audits on staff shifts.

Complete store accounting paperwork and banking daily in the Manager’s absence

Write orders and interact with vendors to meet the product requirements and avoid outages

Assist the Manager to meet company standards on store inspections and mystery shops

Respond to email and phone communications involving store operations and HR requests or requirements

Attend professional trainings and meetings outside the normal hours of work

Be available by phone to respond to emergencies at the store

Participate in and train staff to participate in company charity and fund raising programs

Will spend a majority of their time cashiering, working as the outside attendant or working in the deli, but will also complete the accounting paperwork, do banking and complete orders in the Manager’s absence.

Assistant(s) will work up to 40 hours per week, more if staffing is needed to meet the store requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Assistants supervise 5 - 25 employees on store staff during the absence of or on the days off of the Store Manager. Assistants are responsible for all store operations, employee coordination, and implementation of company programs in the absence of the Store Manager. Assists work regular shifts part of the time, but also complete Manager duties during the Manager’s time off. Assistants are in a position that allows for them to be trained on and practice skills needed to supervise the store staff and operate the store in the Manager’s absence. Although this positon is constantly receiving training, it is also a positon that requires interactive training and proper procedure modeling for the development of other staff in the store.
