Looking for a hard-working individual with a strong knowledge of formal garden and farm maintenance care. This job is for 30 hours per week and may occasionally require a flexible schedule. This person will perform the following tasks for the general care and upkeep of a farm owned and operated by a local non-profit organization:

1. Perform general maintenance of grounds, facilities, equipment, and vehicles including attendance of routine upkeep of facilities and grounds-keeping duties and maintaining all tools and equipment in good condition (including making sure that fuel for equipment is available onsite as needed). Grounds maintenance is to include but is not limited to maintain irrigation systems, mowing lawns, weed control, brush removal, general upkeep and repair of structures and facilities, etc.

2. Protect staff, volunteers, and visitors through attendance to security and safety issues and farm maintenance.

3. Coordinate with and provide support for farm volunteers.

4. Cooperate with community partners that share farm facilities.

5. Coordinate with the Office Manager and Operations Committee to responsibly manage administrative and record keeping tasks related to farm maintenance.

6. Provide support for scheduled private and public events at the farm (i.e. weddings and seasonal public events) as directed, including providing tours of the venue for prospective renters, event setup, breakdown, and cleanup.

Qualifications

1. Demonstrated grounds/farm operation and maintenance experience, working knowledge of farm infrastructure and landscape maintenance, and general knowledge of basic equipment repair;

2. Experience in growing using organic/biodynamic principles;

3. Experience working with farm machinery;

4. Basic carpentry skills;

5. Demonstrated good communication skills;

6. Excellent interpersonal skills (this job will require interacting with a wide variety of individuals);

7. Experience working in a team environment with proven leadership skills;

8. Demonstrated ability to work independently;

9. Demonstrated good organizational and record keeping skills;

10. Self-motivated, cooperative and flexible.

Education and Experience

1. High school diploma/GED

2. Minimum two-years' experience of full-season management or equivalent

Skills and abilities

1. Knowledge of and demonstrated expertise on grounds maintenance and standard farm practices.

2. Computer skills, with proficiency in MS Word & Excel.

3. Able to work in the field and office including hard repetitive physical work.

4. Some evening or special event hours may be required.

5. Current driver's license and a clean driving record.

6. Comfortable driving and operating farm equipment.

7. Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds.
