Primary Purpose

This position has overall responsibility for planning and directing agency development, including fundraising, marketing activities, grantmaking, and strategic communications. This position has the ability to be a hybrid position that would allow for remote work throughout the state of Oregon.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and at least five years related experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience. Related experience includes business or administrative management, business communications, computer applications, fundraising, grant writing, employee/board relations and common business practices. Excellent project management skills, including successfully directing and managing an agency fundraising strategy, program, and staff. Must possess the ability to think outside the box and be creative and innovative. Experience in non-profit and mental health settings preferred.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Core Competencies

Organize, execute, and report on yearly development plan.

Provide oversight of agency grant-making and reporting.

Establish and maintain structures, processes, and tools for fundraising.

Provide oversight of all agency fundraising activities.

Provide oversight of donor database and reporting.

Direct and coordinate activities designed to create or maintain a favorable public image or raise issue awareness for the organization.

Ensure marketing and branding materials are consistent with organizational priorities and strategies.

Provide oversight of agency website, social media, and branding.

Provide oversight of web promotions using appropriate software and ensure web content and creative elements of agency website and social media are in line with branding requirements.

Direct the planning and execution of direct mail campaigns and development/donor newsletters.

Provide oversight of internal document branding and work with Office Managers to bolster staff internal brand and confidence.

Staff representative on the Board Development Committee.

Provide input into agency internal and external communication strategies.

Provide input and leadership for agency culture development and growth.

Participate in other agency fundraising or informational forums to promote collaboration between agencies and the community.

Work closely with the Human Resources Department to promote positive staff relations through communication and implementation of agency policies and procedures.

Delegate tasks and responsibilities to assure smooth team function and task completion.

Provide and administratively document individual supervision for assigned supervisees. Ensure ongoing performance management and completion of performance appraisals.

Address issues of concern with supervisees immediately or at the next supervision session.

Demonstrate a high level of competence and problem-solving skills in risk management, and decision making while considering impact on youth and young adults, staff and other departments.

Abide by ethical codes, mission, values, and professional standards, including confidentiality.

Actively utilize, reference, and follow agency policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Present a positive attitude, professional demeanor and demonstrated respect with youth and young adults, families, staff, visitors, and community partners.

Perform all work tasks in a proper and safe manner per established policies, procedures, and guidelines to prevent unnecessary injury, time loss and agency expenses.

Comply with all federal, state and agency health and safety reporting requirements.

Supervisory

Lead, train and develop staff for maximum effectiveness.

Performs all supervisory responsibilities for assigned staff, which may include scheduling and assigning work, training, hiring, and addressing, and/or documenting performance or disciplinary issues.

Provide and administratively document individual supervision for assigned supervisees. Ensure ongoing performance management and completion of performance appraisals.

Leadership

Member of the Executive Leadership Team. Attends Executive Team meetings and participates in decision-making and problem resolution processes.

Participates in the development of the Kairos’s plans and programs, particularly from the perspective of the impact on clients and employees.

Actively promotes the mission and values of the agency externally and internally.

Leads change initiatives when appropriate. Manages change to achieve continuous improvement of both the

Development department and the agency.

Ability to positively influence colleagues and stakeholders.

Participates in developing leadership within the agency.

Other Duties

Perform other related work as assigned.

Attend trainings and meetings as assigned. May be appointed to committees.
