Position Summary

Performs administration of the Learning Management System (LMS) and provides instructional design support for faculty involved in web-based course development. Manages user data and user accounts in a variety of college systems with elevated admin privileges. Researches, integrates, tests, and implements third-party LMS applications. Assists and provides support for faculty in design, development, and delivery of various media elements for web-based courses. Coordinates LMS training and course development, as well as day-to-day operations of the LMS help desk for students.

Compensation

This is a Part-time Classified, 19 hour per week (47.5%, 52 weeks/year) position in the Outcomes & Assessments department. Starting compensation ins entry level for Group 7 on the 2023-24 Classified Salary Schedule.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Education – A Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia, Communications, Instructional Technology or a related field is required.

Experience – A minimum of two years experience in web-based course development and delivery is required.

Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree.

Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience which ensures the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute for the requirement(s).

Preferred Qualifications

A Master’s Degree is preferred. Certification in administrating current LMS management is preferred.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (Core Competencies)

Knowledge – Instructional design (broad theoretical and conceptual knowledge); multimedia software products used in creating and supporting distributed educational materials; online learning management systems; media production and instructional computing; web design; course development; user and course data management; and Microsoft Office Suite products.

Skills – Instructional design skills; verbal and written communication; planning and organizing; training.

Abilities – Work cooperatively with a variety of college staff including faculty and other technical support personnel; work with faculty in online environments; plan and organize course development; work tactfully with faculty throughout complex processes.

Other Requirements

LMS certification required within six months of being hired.

For assignments requiring operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a valid Oregon Driver’s License or the ability to obtain one within 30-days of employment, and maintenance of an acceptable driving record are required.

This position functions as an in-person work arrangement, working on-campus with either a set schedule or flexibility depending on operational needs.

Physical Demands

Manual dexterity and coordination are required for more than half of the daily work period (about 75%) which is spent sitting while operating office equipment such as computers, keyboards, 10-key, telephones, and other standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, climb, balance, see, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility including the ability to move materials up to 5 lbs. daily, 5-25 lbs. weekly, 25-60+ lbs. occasionally. This position requires both verbal and written communication abilities.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is primarily working indoors in an office environment. The employee is not exposed to hazardous conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and lighting is adequate.
